Last year we saw the Ice World Space Ork emerge from the plain brown bag to challenge the local miniature painters. What might emerge this year and can the painters rise once again to the challenge?
Well it is time to find out!
Once again we will have 25 kits to challenge the painters brave enough to undertake this fearsome task. Kits will be $50 each with $30 going directly to Gabi’s Kids and the rest going into the prize pool. The prize pool will be divided amongst the top three painters as determined by public voting.
The kits go on sale June 5th (that’s right, today!) though we do request that no one spoil what is in the bag for a week so everyone can experience the excitement and surprise of what is in the bag.
There are a few rules that have to be followed.
1) The paints in the kit must make up 75% of the visible paint on the miniature.
2) All of the colors also have to be visible. Putting a color down and completely covering it does not count.
3) Creative basing is allowed, and is greatly is encouraged! Incorporating the kit paints prominently in the basing is strongly encouraged but not required.
4) The kit miniature should be fully assembled.
5) Modding the miniature is allowed so long as the miniature is still obviously what it is supposed to be. Mods count as part of the miniature and so fall under the 75% paint rules for the overall miniature (not including the basing).
The completed miniatures should be turned in to the shop by July 3rd to allow for a good period of time for viewing and voting. Miniatures can be turned in after July 3rd but may miss out on some votes. When turned in, the miniature will be assigned a number to be displayed with the miniature and names associated with the number will be kept secret. July 4th will be the start of voting with people voting for their choice for 1st (3 points), 2nd (2 points), and 3rd place (1 point). The winners will be announced and prizes presented at Gabi’s 30 years celebration BBQ on July 16th. Prizes can also be picked up at the shop if unable to attend the BBQ.
Painters… start your brushes!!
